METHOD AND SYSTEM OF DECIDING COMMUNICATION MODE IN A COMMUNICATION SYSTEM

A communication mode determining method in a communication system and a system thereof are provided to support a more efficient communication service for a user by operating a decided communication mode without separate compromise between MSs(Mobile Stations). When data to be transmitted to an MS_D is generated, an MS_S transmits a communication request signal for requesting communication with the MS_D to a BS(Base Station)(207). The BS checks whether the MS_D and MS_S exists within the same cell(209), if not, determines the communication mode between the MS_D and the MS_S as the cellular communication mode(211), and then transmits resource allocation information of the cellular communication mode to the MS_S(213). The MS_S is converted into the cellular communication mode in consideration of received information(229).
