A ceramic glow plug heating method and a glow plug control unit are provided prevent that the temperature of the glow plug is overshot by superproportionally increasing the running mean of voltage about the heating time. A ceramic glow plug heating method is a glow plug is heated up by authorizing the variable voltage in the ceramic glow plug. The running mean of voltage is increased to the super- proportional (super-proportional) about the heating time passing. The increment of voltage starts from the base value, and the voltage is the active voltage provided by the pulse wide method. The voltage consecutively increases among the upper heating process while the time during a cycle of the maximum 0.4 second being regularly maintained.
