A method for converting black into composite black in digital printing is provided to improve black printing quality without additional cost by using a print engine having dots-per-ink of ink evaporation. A method for converting black into composite black in digital printing comprises a step of establishing the brightness control factor Ko from black(0,0,0,Kin) of input image(12), a step of setting initial values(Co,Yo,Mo) of cyan, yellow and magenta equal to Ko, a step of converting Co Mo, and Yo into C1, M1, Y1, and K1 through the GCR method(16), a step of determining Cout, Mout, Yout, and Kout corresponding to gray balance control of C1, M1, Y1, and K1(18), and a step of inputting Cout, Mout, Yout, and Kout to a digital color print engine.
