The machine (10) has a lever (14) pivotally mounted on a frame (12) around a transversal axis (16). An end of the lever carrying a mass (30) applies axial tractive force to a cylindrical rod shaped test tube (20). The mass is supported by an elastically deformable unit e.g. helical spring (62), and by mobile elements such as vertical support rod (54), circular plate (56) and piston rod (58), moved between two positions in a controlled manner. A totality of the mass is carried in one of the positions and entirely supported by the deformable unit in the other position.
