978,460. Mounting I.C. engine cam-shafts; driving I.C. engine auxiliaries; reciprocating pumps. F. A. E. PORSCHE. Oct. 10, 1963 [Oct. 26, 1962], No. 39955/63. Headings F1A and FIB. In an I.C. engine having a crank-shaft-driven cam-shaft 3 axially located within a crankcase 1 by a spring-loaded driving member 21 of an auxiliary assembly 19, e.g. a fuel pump, the driving member is supported against a control surface 16, which is arranged at the end face of the cam-shaft and also drives the auxiliary assembly. Pinion 9 mounted on cam-shaft flange 11, carries disc 15, e.g. a sheet metal pressing, and the force exerted by spring 22 moves flange 11 against abutment 13. In modifications the control surface may be made integrally with the pinion or arranged at the opposite end from the driven end of the camshaft. The auxiliary assembly 19 may be an eccentric piston pump. |
