The machine i.e. regenerative braking type alterno-starter (1), has a control unit (7) e.g. microcontroller, processing information representing temperature of the machine and electrical quantity e.g. current, associated to a rotor (2) of the machine and determining a threshold value of the electrical quantity of the machine based on the information representing the temperature. The control unit compares the information representing the electrical quantity with the determined threshold value. The control unit controls the electrical quantity of the machine based on the comparison. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a system comprising a rotating electric machine (2) a method for controlling electrical quantity of a rotating electric machine.
