Provided are a housing which allows an electronic device such as a mobile phone to be thin and the maintenance of which is not inconvenient, and an electronic device. A housing (KTS) for an electronic device (1) comprises a front case on the surface of which an operation unit is provided and a rear case (12) which is arranged in contact with the read surface side of the front case and on the inside of which a battery housing unit (RD) is provided. The rear case (12) is formed integrally with periphery walls (51a-d) of the battery housing unit (RD) by use of synthetic resin. A plurality of nail portions (56) are provided on the periphery walls (51a-d). A bottom plate (26) composed of a metal plate is arranged over the almost entire area of the bottom of the battery housing unit (RD). The bottom plate (26) is attached to the rear case (12) by allowing the plurality of nail portions (56) to be inserted in and engaged with a plurality of engaging holes (63) provided on the periphery portion.
