An input method of a mobile terminal including a touch screen and an apparatus thereof are provided to prevent the malfunction of the mobile terminal without selecting an undesired function and perform the frequent movement of a screen such as internet connection and a menu selection. An active cell is indicated on a screen(110). It senses whether to contact the finger of a user on the display screen(112). The finger location of the contacted user is checked. The movement direction and movement distance of user finger is checked around the contact area of the finger. The location of the active cell is changed(116).
