An apparatus for upper thread cutting and holding of sewing machine is provided to prevent bird-nest phenomenon at a lower part of a sewn material when performing sewing work and to heighten an effectiveness of task. An apparatus for upper thread cutting and holding of sewing machine contains a body part(60), a first actuator part(62), a linear motion guide part, a circulation bracket part, a second actuator part(84) and a upper thread cutting and holding part. The body part is connected to one side of a head unit of the sewing machine. The first actuator generates backward and forward movement power and is combined in one side of the body part. The linear motion guide part is combined in the other side of the body part. The circulation bracket part is connected to the first actuator part and is slid by operation of the first actuator part on the linear motion guide part. The second actuator part is combined in the circulation bracket part and generates right and left locomotive power. The upper thread cutting and holding of sewing machine is connected to operation of the second actuator part.
