A dishwasher and the control method is provided to complete rinse process within preset time by detecting temperature of washing water in final rinse cycle and thus changing the operation time of a heater. A dishwasher control method comprises a step of detecting temperature of washing water; a step of determining operation time of a heater based on the detected temperature; and a step of operating the heater according to the determined operation time.
