A green luminescence oxynitride fluorescent substance is provided to emit the light in the wavelength area of high fluorescence efficiency by absorbing the light from a UV light emitting diode. A green luminescence oxynitride fluorescent substance is expressed as the chemical formula 1: M1wReaM2xOyNz, wherein M1 is a metallic element containing a II group element or Sn; M2 is a metallic element containing a IV group element except for Sn; Re is an active element; a, x, y, z and w represents a number satisfying 0.01<= a <= 0.20, 0.8 <= x/(w+a) <= 1.0.
