摘要 A maize starch that has an apparent amylose content of 35-90 wt.% and displays a measurable pasting temperature in an aqueous suspension in Rapid Visco Analyzer (RVA) analysis, is new. Independent claims are: (1) a maize plant cell that expresses a heterologous alpha-glucan water dikinase (GWD) gene and has an amylose extender mutation; (2) reproductive material of a maize plant comprising maize plant cells of (1); (3) a method of production of a maize starch comprising extraction of the maize starch from maize plants or from reproductive material; (4) a maize meal containing the maize starch above; (5) a method of production of maize meal comprising grinding of a maize plant of reproductive material; (6) a composition containing the maize starch above and an additive; (7) a composition containing the maize meal and an additive; (8) foodstuffs containing the maize starch above or the maize meal; and (9) foodstuffs containing the composition.
