Disclosed is an organic-inorganic hybrid thin film obtained by using an organic compound (A) having at least one functional group and an inorganic compound (B) having a structure wherein at least one functional group and a hydrolyzable group are respectively bonded to a central metal atom directly or through a linking group. The organic-inorganic hybrid thin film has a structure which is obtained by forming a covalent bond between the functional group of the organic compound (A) and the functional group of the inorganic compound (B) and causing a hydrolysis reaction of the hydrolyzable group of the inorganic compound (B), thereby forming a metal oxide.
