A portable terminal and an MMS transmission method using the same are provided to transmit a text message conveniently with desired image screen in a form of an MMS message to a specific person. An image to be transmitted in a portable terminal is selected(S100). An MMS message is generated by overlaying a text inputted to the selected image. The MMS message is transmitted to a predetermined address of the other party(S130). The predetermined address of the other party includes at least one of a mobile phone number and an email address.
