A digital broadcasting system and a data processing method are provided to insert known data into a specific position of a data area and transmit the known data, thereby improving performance of a receiving system even in an environment in which a channel is severely changed. A broadcasting signal in which mobile service data and main service data are multiplexed is received. Program table information describes mobile service data identifier information and the mobile service data. The mobile service data identifier information indicates whether the mobile service data of the received broadcasting signal is a service based on IP. The program table information is parsed. The broadcasting signal includes the program table information including an IP address providing a service based on the IP.
