To enhance the storage life of the product and to reduce bacterial attack a small amount of alcohol is sprayed onto the product prior to sealing,. The alcohol is introduced by a lance reaching into the pack with similar lances to flush the pack with carbon dioxide. The alcohol lance has a dispensing opening on the top edge of the tip.
