A cutting needle for a knitting machine containing an exchangeable knife repairing easily the knitting machine is provided to reduce a maintenance cost of the knitting machine. A cutting needle(1) for a knitting machine comprises a needle body(2) and a knife(6). The needle body comprises a hook(3) in one end of the needle body, a slit(5) for accommodating the knife, one or more retaining units(12) for supporting the knife and a moment support surface(17) for the knife. The knife is separably connected to the needle body.
