A cellular communication system comprises a plurality of base transceiver stations (BTSs), each BTS having associated therewith a cell, and arranged to support communication over at least one of a plurality of Common Control Channels (CCCHs) for that cell. The cellular communication system comprises a network element arranged to allocate one of the plurality of CCCHs for a cell to a Mobile Station (MS) joining that cell. The network element determines which CCCH to allocate to the MS based on information provided within a user group profile for the MS. |
