The invention relates to a rake receiver (300) which takes account of multi-user interference (MUI) and inter-symbol interference (ISI) as well as multi-path interference. A plurality of signal branches (330_0 - 330_(L-1)) receive and despread a signal in conventional manner. A plurality of noise branches (320_0_320_(I-1)) are introduced for producing a plurality of noise components in the rake receiver (300). Next, a noise combining unit (377) adjusts each noise component, so as to combine the noise components to obtain an interference-plus-noise estimation value. Weighting (A0-AL-1, B0-BI-1) is added to each delayed signal. The rake receiver (300) eliminates the noises in the main signal generated by the signal branches through using the interference-plus-noise estimation value. |
