988,847. Testing coins. TATEISI DENKI KABUSHIKI KAISHA. Feb. 7, 1964 [Feb. 18, 1963], No. 5309/64. Heading G4X. Coins are sorted by means of a rotatable disc 2 mounted flush in a vertical coin plate 1, coins of large diameter admitted by way of shoot 10 being held between pins 5-8 which project from the face of the disc and the weight of the coin turning the disc until the coin precipitates away from the disc into a collecting shoot 11, smaller coins admitted by way of shoot 10 passing between the pins an falling across the disc to a second collecting shoot 12. To make sure that the pins lie properly in position to receive coins from the shoot 10 the pins may be of ferromagnetic material and when the disc is at rest one of the pins is indexed by attraction to a magnet 25. If the rim at least of the disc is made of conductive material magnets may be disposed against it to damp its rotation. The sorting devices may be arranged in series to separate a mixture of more than two coins.
|
