A liquid crystal display device, and a backlight unit are provided to extend the lifetime of a lamp and to reduce the power consumption of a lamp by improving the electrode structure of a lamp. A liquid crystal display device comprises a lower cover(100); a lamp(120) which is provided on the lower cover, and comprises internal electrodes formed at the both inner sides of the sealed glass tube so as to face each other, and an external electrode of a ring shape having a certain width formed at the outer region of the glass tube corresponding the position where the internal electrode is formed so as to allow the terminal part of the internal electrode to located in the certain width; a conductive unit which connects electrically the internal electrode and the external electrode; and a liquid crystal panel(150) which is provided at the upper part of the lamp to be provided with light.
