A device for discharging a cylindrical silo 10 comprises a screw conveyer 18 mounted on a frame 17 pivotable about a column 12 and a suction conduit for pneumatically emptying the silo comprising a nozzle 21, adjacent the delivery end of the conveyer, and a hose 20 extending out of the silo centrally through the roof 11. The frame 17 is supported from a beam 14, supported in turn by wheels on a rail 15, by ropes 16 by which it can be raised and lowered. The hose 20 passes over pulleys 26, 27 mounted on a frame 25, secured to the beam 14, to a pipe 31 which is rotatably connected to a fixed pipe 32 which passes out of the silo to an external sucking-out station. A winch 36 turns drums 35, 38 connected by a wire 33 to a pulley 34 and to the wire ropes 16 respectively so that as the winch raises and lowers the frame 17 the hose 20 is kept taut over the pulleys 26, 27 which are movable towards and away from each other. In a modification, a telescopic supply conduit is connected to the inner end of the conveyer 18 which conveys to the edge of the silo where by a swivel connection a suction discharge conduit in the form of telescopic pipes leading to the external suction conduit is attached.
