<p>The fabrication of a steel sheet resistant to abrasion consists of subjecting the sheet to a heat treatment in the hot forming operation or after austenite by reheating in a furnace. The hardening process involves: (a) cooling at a medium cooling rate of greater than 0.5 degrees C/s between a temperature greater than Ac3 and a given temperature between T and T-50; (b) then cooling at a core medium cooling rate Vr less than 1150 x ep power -1.7 and greater than 0.1 degrees C/s between the temperature T and 100 degrees C, ep being the thickness of the sheet in mm; and (c) cooling to ambient temperature and possibly performing a planishing operation. The temperature T is defined as being: T = 800 - 270 x C asterisk - 90 x Mn - 37 x Ni - 70 x Cr - 83 x (Mo +W/2). C asterisk = C-Ti/4 -Zr/8 + 7 x N/8.</p> |
