The invention relates to a process for making natural leathers for book binding, having special performances related to the light resistance characteristics, dimensional stability, water absoption, plasticity, finishing material adhesion, for the chromatic integration, specific to the leather objects of museal or patrimony type. According to the invention, the process consisting of treatments of softening, liming, post-liming, decalcifying, bating, pickling, tanning and finishing, is characterized in that the tannage is made by 300% float, with 15-25% hydrolysable vegetal tan extract, 0.2-0.5% 2-(thiocyanomethylthio)-benzothiazole, under intermitent stirrring, for 48 h, or with 0.5% Cr(OH) SO4 (basic chrome sulphate), 10-15% hydrolysable tan and 0.2-0.5% 2-(thiocyanomethylthio)-benzothiazole, under intermitent stirring, for 3 h, stationary over night, afterwards there is rendered basic with 0.2-0.4% sodium dicarbonate.
|
