The invention relates to an air overhead system for power supply of electric trains, which comprises a carrier cable and a contact wire connected to each other by means of suspenders. The carrier cable is strained by a greater tensile force than the contact wire. The contact wire is suspended, for example, in a zigzag manner, and the carrier cable is also suspended in a zigzag manner, and in horizontal projection it is opposite to the contact wire. It may also be displaced in a zigzag manner and laterally to the contact wire, whereat it is at a different height towards the contact wire.
