The invention relates to equipment of ballast consolidation under sleepers at construction and maintenance of railroad bed, in particular, to a working tool of ballast tampers.A method for manufacturing a wear-proof ballast hammer comprises strengthening the hammer blade for all zones and rigidly fixed by hard-alloyed plates with a soldering.Lower edges of the strengthening hard-alloyed plates are shaped in cross-section as two disproportional cones with rounded vertexes and a common base which has shoulders for mounting a blade overlapping its lower edge and also for protection its rear side.One of cones is a working part and has an angle at the vertex equal or greater 90°. The other is a non-working cone serves as a connecting element to a counterpart recess in the blade lower part. The height of the non-working cone exceeds that of the working cone by 1.5-2 times and with rigid soldering provides increased strength of the lower edge and protection thereof from chips of front, rear and butt blade parts.Flat hard-alloyed plates are soldered on the front and rear sides of the ballast hammer and can have any geometrical shape and size, distributed over surfaces in number and spaced from each other according to the requirements of the operating procedures and moreover have facets over the perimeter on the outer side for increasing soldering reliability.
