FIELD: physics; radio. ^ SUBSTANCE: present invention pertains to wireless communication and can be used for generating amplitude-frequency and phase-frequency response of phase manipulated, amplitude manipulated as well as amplitude-phase-manipulated signals in a given frequency band and frequency transformation. The method of modulating amplitude and phase of radio-frequency signals involves transmitting a radio-frequency signal from a source to a modulator, made from a four-terminal network and a controlled element, connected to a source of a two-level low-frequency control signal. The vector impedance of the controlled element is varied from one value to another by switching the low-frequency control signal from one level to another. The output of the four-terminal network is connected to a load with vector admittance. All two-terminal elements of the four-terminal network are resistive. The device for modulating amplitude and phase of radio-frequency signals comprises a source of radio-frequency signals, a two-terminal controlled element, a four-terminal network, made from resistive two-terminal elements, a load with vector impedance, and a source of low-frequency control signal. The parameter values of the resistive elements, forming the resistive four-terminal network, are chosen in accordance with a given mathematical expression. ^ EFFECT: provision for manipulation of the amplitude and phase of the intermediate line signal in a wide frequency band with controlled modulus and phase of the transmission constant. ^ 6 cl, 6 dwg |
