A switching element is provided to save electricity as the operating voltage of the switching element is lower than a switching element using an insulating substrate in which nitrogen is not contained in a side in which an inter-electrode gap part is formed. A switching element comprises an insulating substrate(10), a first electrode(20), a second electrode(30), and an inter-electrode gap part(40). The first electrode and the second electrode are formed in the single-side of the insulating substrate. The inter-electrode gap part is formed between the first electrode and the second electrode. The inter-electrode gap part comprises the interval of a nanometer unit in which switching phenomenon of resistance is generated between the first electrode and the second electrode by approval of predetermined voltage. The single-side of the insulating substrate contains nitrogen.
