The spindle cap (1), keyed to the operating spindle (3) of a pipeline shut-off slide/valve, has a metal or plastics sleeve housing (4) with a quadrilateral inner cone (18) within an inner holder (16) over part of the housing length within a quadrilateral cone stud (7). The cone stud has a flange ring concentric to the center axis (8) forming a base. At the upper end of the cone stud angled connecting surfaces (34) lie diagonally against the corners (33), forming a conical mantle around the center axis.
