A nonhalogenated flame retardant epoxy resin is provided to improve environmental friendliness and safety by containing nitrogen, phosphorus and silicon in a molecule. A nonhalogenated flame retardant epoxy resin is represented by the formula 1, wherein R1 and R2 are independently a C1-C10 alkyl group; R3 is a C1-C10 alkoxy group or a C1-C10 alkyl group; and R4 is a C1-C10 alkylene group or a C1-C10 alkyleneaminoalkylene group. Preferably the epoxy resin has an epoxy equivalent of 450-550.
