The invention relates to a method and a device for measuring the angular position, between two steering lock stops, on a vehicle steering wheel, consisting in fitting to said vehicle a main gear (4, 5) adapted, once the vehicle has started, to enable calculation of the absolute angular position of the steering wheel, from data supplied by a first angular sensor (15) associated with said main gear. According to the invention, the vehicle is further fitted with an auxiliary gear comprising one of the cogwheels (5) of the main gear, a third cogwheel (8), and intermediate sequential drive means (6, 7, 9) for the third cogwheel (8) such that, when the vehicle starts, the angular position of the third cogwheel (8) is able to be measured using a second angular sensor (16) associated therewith. ® KIPO & WIPO 2009 |
