PURPOSE: A method for assigning service bandwidths of a WDM(Wavelength Division Multiplexing) E-PON(Ethernet-Passive Optical Network) is provided to improve a media access function and a transmission delay period by using simultaneously the fixing bandwidth and the variable bandwidth. CONSTITUTION: One ONU(Optical Network Unit) is selected from plural ONUs to decide a supporting state of a fixing bandwidth(S320). A bandwidth required from the ONU is assigned as a variable bandwidth if the ONU does not support the fixing bandwidth(S330). The supporting state of the variable bandwidth of the ONU is decided if the ONU supports the fixing bandwidth(S370). A difference between the required bandwidth and the fixing bandwidth is assigned as the variable bandwidth if the ONU supports the fixing bandwidth and the variable bandwidth(S380). The variable bandwidth is assigned to the ONU if the assigned bandwidth is a negative number or the ONU supporting the fixing bandwidth does not support the variable bandwidth(S390,S340).
