Disclosed is a nonaqueous electrolyte battery which is excellent in cycle characteristics and storage characteristics at high temperatures, while exhibiting high reliability even when it is so constructed as to have a high capacity. Also disclosed is a method for manufacturing such a nonaqueous electrolyte battery. Specifically disclosed is a nonaqueous electrolyte battery comprising an electrode body, which is composed of a positive electrode having a positive electrode active material layer containing a positive electrode active material, a negative electrode having a negative electrode active material layer containing a negative electrode active material and a separator interposed between the electrodes, and a nonaqueous electrolyte impregnated into the electrode body. This nonaqueous electrolyte battery is characterized in that the positive electrode active material contains at least cobalt or manganese, and a coating layer containing filler particles and a binder is formed on the surface of the negative electrode active material layer. ® KIPO & WIPO 2009 |
