An apparatus and a method for controlling a position of a lens are provided to move a lens to a target location to focus an image at an uniform speed and decrease movement speed to move the lens in an opposite direction when a current location is out of the target location, thereby accurately focusing an image. A lens location sensing terminal(240) transfers a lens location to a driving frequency generating terminal by connecting to the driving frequency generating terminal and determining a location of the lens. A driving frequency controller(211) outputs a control signal for generating the driving frequency. The driving frequency controller is connected to the lens location sensing terminal. A driving frequency generating unit(212) is connected to the driving frequency controller and a lens controller. The driving frequency generating unit generates a driving frequency by a control signal from the driving frequency controller.
