A biometric authentication device that is small sized and guides a subject person in an easily understandable manner when they are subjected to iris authentication from a position separated from the device. The biometric authentication device (10) includes imaging sections (1) for imaging an iris of the subject person to perform iris authentication, light emitting elements for emitting light for imaging the iris by the imaging section (1), and lighting section (2) for causing the light emitting diodes to emit light in synchronous with the timing of imaging by the imaging section (1). The lighting section (2) is placed between the imaging sections (1a-1h) so that the subject person can squarely face the lighting section (2) when they are imaged by the imaging sections (1).
