<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To carry out without deteriorating productivity a correcting action for elimination of, such as misalignment and variations in the main scanning magnification that occurs between images for each color component, when forming continuous page images in a tandem color image forming apparatus. <P>SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus carries out correction of the main scanning magnification between pages for continuous printing (S103) and then checks the executing conditions for alignment along with this action. The checking method checks the two variation amounts in correction amounts for the main scanning magnification and the correction amount for the misalignment, in between images for each color component derived between pages with thresholds fixed as executing conditions (S104, S105). Since deterioration in the image quality can be predicted, when both the correction value for the magnification and the correction value for the mis alignment exceed the thresholds, when this executing condition is fulfilled, an execution of alignment is requested (S106). A system controller interrupts the continuous printing for the execution of the alignment, when the alignment execution request is received; and the printing is restarted after the alignment is completed. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT |
