<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus capable of improving sensing accuracy of the toner end without the need of using a toner end sensor (nor cost increase). <P>SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus includes a means for adjusting concentration by forming a concentration-adjusting pattern image. At the time of calculating the toner consumption amount based on the accumulated number of printed pixels, whether the toner transferred on the paper has high-concentration or low-concentration is determined from the sensor output value of the pattern having the highest concentration at the time of concentration adjustment so as to carry out compensation based on a compensation value calculated from the determination result. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT |
