<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical anisotropic body, a method of manufacturing the optical anisotropic body, and a liquid crystal display having the optical anisotropic body excelling in an optical anisotropic property and close contact property and unconventionally low in cost, with a liquid crystal compound of an optical anisotropic layer being superior from the viewpoint of orientation. <P>SOLUTION: The optical anisotropic body has an elution block layer, an orientation layer, and the optical anisotropic layer, containing a polymerizable discotic liquid crystal compound or a polymerizable low-molecular liquid crystal compound of positive birefringence. The elution block layer is installed in between a substitute cellulose resin substrate and the orientation layer, and the elution block layer has a nonionic polymer, dissolved in a mixed solvent that contains 30-100 mass% for water and 0-70 mass% for organic solvent. The optically anisotropic layer is a layer, formed by regulating the temperature of the liquid crystal compound for orientation and then carrying out hardening reaction with irradiation of actinic rays to fix orientation. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT |
