<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing a glass substrate for an information recording medium with excellent productivity allowing easy separation of a spacer and moving to the next process without damaging a surface. <P>SOLUTION: An end face of the glass substrate 1 which becomes a laminated body 4 is polished, and subsequently, the laminated body 4 is immersed in a water tank 71. The surface of the glass substrate 1 is sucked by a suction pad 75 and is separated from the laminated body 4, and at the same time, hydraulic pressure is applied between the glass substrate 1 and the laminated body 4.
