The low-shimmer film (14) has one region of a color coating with a coating thickness in region of 100nm to 10 microns divided into a number of sub-regions. The color coating in the aforesaid region has at least two different coating thicknesses. Of two adjacent sub-regions one of them has a maximum width dimension of less than 500 microns, and the difference of the average coating thicknesses of the color coating in adjacent sub-regions is more than 10 nm. Independent claims are included for the following: (1) a method for producing a low-shimmer film; and (2) a gravure roller (131) for producing a low-shimmer film.
