The appliance has a closed operating surface (1) i.e. metal plate, and a mechanical contactor (2) that separates the electrical appliance from a supply voltage network (5) in one position (SO) and connects the electrical appliance with the supply voltage network in another position (SU). The contactor is arranged below the operating surface and is forced by deflection of the operating surface between the two positions. The contactor has a catch spring such as disk spring or a leaf spring, and is fitted to the operating interface by a spring element (4).
