An inverter (14) for driving a motor includes a plurality of power semiconductor devices (41 to 46). The power semiconductor devices (41 to 46) include a resistor electrically connected between a collector and an emitter of an IGBT element. Each of the power semiconductor devices (41 to 46) constitutes any one of a U-phase arm (15), a V-phase arm (16), and a W-phase arm (17) of the inverter (14). Thus, the inverter (14) has a built-in discharge resistor. This eliminates the need of preparing a discharge resistor separately. Accordingly, it is possible to reduce the number of parts required for the motor drive device and reduce the number of manufacturing steps.
