<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light shielding member which is suppressed in the generation of stray light, to provide a line head which is suppressed in the generation of a ghost using the member, and to provide an image forming apparatus reduced in the deterioration of image quality using the same. <P>SOLUTION: An outer frame member 442 is prepared on the head substrate 450 side of a communicated light guide hole 4410, and therefore no light guide hole 4410 is present where the outer frame member 442 is prepared. Part of the light entering the light guide hole 4410 is reflected at the internal surface of each light guide hole 4410 of the light shielding member 440 and passes the communicated light guide hole 4410. On the other hand in a place where the outer frame member 442 is prepared, the light enters between light shielding plates 441 and is reflected in an incidence direction by the light shielding plates 441. The light repeats reflection a plurality of times and attenuates between mutually opposite surfaces of the light shielding plates 441 which hold the outer frame member 442 therebetween.
