<p>An apparatus for controlling lamp capable of reducing failure rate of component and control method thereof are provided to simplify a circuit by reducing the number of component used in an open lamp detection unit. An apparatus(100) for controlling lamp capable of reducing failure rate of component comprises a plurality of lamps(141~14N), a switching unit(120), a converting unit(130), an open lamp detection unit(160), and a controller(110). The switching unit outputs an AC signal by switching a supply power source. The converting unit converts an AC signal of the switching part into signals of a high voltage having a different phase, and supplies to a plurality of lamps. The open lamp detection unit detects an open of the lamp by adding signals of a low voltage having a different phase generated from the converting unit. The controller controls an operation of the switching unit by a signal detected in the open lamp detection unit.</p> |
