PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a remote control device which is improved in usability by suppressing a decrease in operability depending upon which of a child and an adult holds a main body. SOLUTION: The remote control device 1 has detecting elements 50 disposed side by side on both flanks. It is decided which of an adult and a child a user gripping the remote control device 1 is, based upon a distribution of detecting elements 50 which are pressed among the detecting elements 50 provided on both the flanks, and functions of operation keys 40 are changed according to the user.
