A cyclohexenone compound used for protecting liver is provided to cause no side effects, toxicity or complications when the cyclohexenone compound is used as a natural extract in order to treat or protect the liver or fibrosis. A cyclohexenone compound used for protecting liver is obtained from Antrodia camphorata. The cyclohexenone compound used for protecting liver is isolated from an extract of an organic solvent of the Antrodia camphorata. The organic solvent is selected from alcohol, ester, alkane and halogenated alkane. The alcohol is ethanol.
