<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a data buffer circuit, and a method of accessing information from a video bitstream. <P>SOLUTION: Disclosed are various concealment techniques including interpolation, substitution, adaptation techniques, and weighted sum techniques. In respective embodiments, a corrupted data packet is checked to identify one or a plurality of error positions, whether the corrupted data packet includes data predicted to be free of an error, and whether the error-free data should be used. Further, disclosed is a backward compatible technique for decoding an FEC code embedded in a video bitstream.
