PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a coated carrier used for a developer for electrostatic image development, which has electrostatic property assigning capability, maintains the performance over a long period, and is prevented from being contaminated (spent) with a toner component. SOLUTION: In the developer for electrostatic image development including a carrier having a resin covering layer on a carrier core material and toner, the carrier contains 7-35 wt.% of silica or carbon black in the resin covering layer, the covering resin has a weight average molecular weight (Mw) of 300,000-600,000, and the toner contains external additive fine particles having a number average particle size of 70-300 nm.
