PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a telescopic steering device provided with a backlash suppressing mechanism which certainly prevents backlash to smoothly adjust a telescopic position and also is superior in assembly workability. SOLUTION: An abutting member 44 composing the backlash suppressing mechanism 40 has the other end 44b formed into a projecting shape and one end 44a formed into a recessed shape. The outside dimension S of the abutting member formed into a curved shape is smaller than the inside diameter dimension of a female screw portion 42 and the diameter of a through hole 43 (S<D). The outside dimension of the abutting member elastically deformed by applying compressive force to an axial direction and corrected into a flat plate is set to approximately the same outside dimension as the inside diameter dimension of the female screw portion and the diameter of the through hole.
