PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform the consistent conveyance even when the thickness of paper sheets to be conveyed is different. SOLUTION: A main control unit 73 takes in information on paper sheet kinds given by a paper sheet kind setting means 35 or the outside and information on the charging pitch corresponding to the thickness of the paper sheet 12 measured by a distance measurement sensor 104, the change of ON/OFF and positive/negative of the output of a high-voltage power source 83 is controlled based on the taken-in information on the charging pitch and the movement of a conveying belt 21, and the polarity of the voltage to be applied to a charging roller 26 is changed to control the charging pitch L of a charging pattern 91 of the conveying belt 21 to the pitch according to the kind of paper sheets 12 to be conveyed.
